I now know why the Condors perch on Navaho Bridge(s). On one Spring trip, we got a late start from Lee’s. I was just coming off a long idle winter. My body was not ready for such punishment.

From the time I first saw Navaho bridge, it was 2 hours of hard rowing before I passed under the bridges the first time. I could watch walls of very hard and dense wind manifest themselves on the slow moving water.

Eventually, I hit my own wall. The wind blew me upstream again under the bridges before I could recover. I was wondering if the wind could bring me back to Lee’s More Condors gathered under the bridge. Did word get out there would be some tender meal available soon?

Then I recalled the wonders of previous trips. Each trip allowed me to see something new, experience something different. And there are still favorite places, I yearn to see again. Recovery was miraculous, or maybe the wind simply moderated enough.

Thanks for your sense of it all. The trip sharpens the senses.
