Great team work to make that happen and what a difference a helmet makes. Thanks to all.

What, no razor?

It was the President of the United Stakes. He brought with him an entourage of jazz drummers and belly dancers. They didn’t know Susan Langsley was a belly dancer.
The party ascended back into the helicopter in a poof of purple smoke..but left behind scarves, gold coin bra thingies, and a copy of “The Monkey Wrench Gang”.

Another flip in 209! OK, last year (I know I keep talking about “last year”, but it’s the only river trip I’ve ever been on), while camped at Indian Canyon, Tom Martin told me that there was this neat hole in 209, and it would be really cool if I were to row through the hole so he could get some video. I looked over at Hazel and she very quietly said “Don’t do it.” Tom continued expounding on the merits of this crazy scheme, and Hazel continued saying “Don’t do it.” Finally, I told Tom that I had it on very good authority that his idea was not very good. The next day, our other rookie rower – Cindy – inadvertently hit the hole and flipped. She was fine, and we got her boat turned upright, probably at the same rock as this year’s effort. I entered the rapid shortly behind her, and did a left side run. The current tried to pull me right into the hole, but we managed to miss it by less than a foot. Anyway, 209 is really weird because it’s not a very big rapid, but there’s this hole…………….

Regarding the party, I can’t comment. While we did a little bit of drum beating and singing and drinking last year, it was sans clowns, lingerie, and feathers. Sounds fun, though.

Dave Perez: I hope the hangover and the sore head cancel each other. Good luck, folks. You still have Killer Fang Falls at Mile 232 to go through.
