many thanks for the kind words about the blog. I had a great time on the trip, and a whole lot of fun trying to put it into words. I really appreciate your comments, and I’m glad you enjoyed it (even the scary parts, Carol!).

I want to thank you for a superb account of a most amazing trip. I even appreciated the part where my son David took that frightening flip. I felt like I was right there, frightened but relieved. I’m so glad you brought your powers of observation, insight and enthusiasm to the telling of this story. You have given us all a most wonderful gift!

Obviously the trip bordered on a religious experience for most, if not all participants, and your insight into what each member “brought”, “carried” or “carried away” was uncanny. Each installment to this point set the stage for the ending chapter. Everyone brought something important and carried more than expected. A bond was created with unforgettable people.

But I have to wonder how you managed to assess the weight of each piece of gear, down to the tenth of an ounce. Having been a rookie rower like Tom only a year ago, his write up brought back many fond and terrifying memories. Fantastic!

If ya’all didn’t stop time, you certainly slowed it down a bit for all of us.
If I was unable to go on a trip, you are the one I want telling me about it. Nicely done — everyone!

I chuckled and held my breath many times through this journey and am as sorry to see it end as all of you. Yet most of all, a river trip stays with you forever.

Hope there will be more photos and stories coming.
